Storyline Edit. Now aboard the mysterious train, Mulder locates the car containing the scientific equipment and what appears to be the autopsy room he saw in the video he purchased. There is also an assassin on board who claims to work for the NSA. When they are locked in, he reveals that there is a bomb aboard which is set to go off and destroy any evidence on the train.
Scully meanwhile traces her implant to a medical research facility in West Virginia which she feels provides a logical explanation for what has been happening - rogue medical research by a Japanese scientist working without authority. Mulder remains convinced the work was to create a human-alien hybrid.

Goofs The journals in Dr. Zama's possession, handwritten all in Japanese, are seen a couple of times during the episode. On two different occasions, as Mulder flips through their pages, we can see that all of the pages are exact duplicates of each other: four identical pages in the original journal, and two identical pages in the "rewritten" journal seen towards the end of the episode.

A direct continuation from the previous episode, my opinion of the last is the same as this, absolutely terrific. A story that feels like it wouldn't have been out of place in the first series.
Nisei and sees the show return to its roots, and doing what it does best of all, chasing Aliens Fast paced and energetic, this is blessed with a cracking script, and places both investigators in trouble, there are multiple nail biting moments.
It's one of those episodes that's well worth watching a second time, there is so much happening, it's almost easy to miss a few bits. Not a huge amount of answers given to Mulder or Scully, they are teased, and tempted with snippets, but plenty to rev the duo up for future cases.

Scully tries to contact Senator Matheson and X but has no luck. By watching Mulder's alien autopsy video she figures out the car's exit code, which she repeats back to Mulder.
As Mulder opens the door out of the train he is jumped and beaten unconscious by the Red Haired Man. As the Red Haired Man is about to leave, he is shot to death by X, who enters the car and, after glancing at the human-alien hybrid, carries Mulder to safety just as the car explodes. Cigarette Smoking Man oversees the translation of the files. A week later, Mulder finds himself unable to get any information on the car. Scully returns the journal he found in Dr. Zama's briefcase, but Mulder can tell that it is a rewritten substitute.
Scully tells him that theirs is a fight they can only hope to lose, and the whole alien conspiracy is the government's way of trying to make amends for past atrocities, citing "apology is policy.
