Many PPC campaigns and websites have been created as a result of this keyword tool. Unfortunately as the above example shows there are a few inherent weaknesses and pitfalls with using the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool.
You can also read the review of the Google AdWords keyword suggestion tool that has other limitations. In summary, Overture do some "conversions" to the most popular terms that they display. Such as, misspellings, hyphenated terms, punctuation variations, singular and plural combinations are "merged", "combined" and "mapped" to the most common form of that term. As a result the Overture data can be over inflated and inaccurate for specific search phrases.
At the same time other factors even further inflate the search counts such as web site rank checking apps. Assuming you control the updates on your own personal computer rather than receiving them through an organization, you can install the May Update one of two ways. Click the button to Check For Updates. Click the link to Download And Install Now. If you don't see the update and want to install it manually, head over to Microsoft's Windows 10 Update page and click the button to Update Now.
To dive into Search, simply click the Search field at the left of the Taskbar. The Search window shows you your most recent documents and other files as well as your top apps--you can easily click a recent file or top app to open it Figure A.
To search for a specific file, application, or general subject, simply type your keyword or words in the search field. Depending on your search term, the results may point you to documents, apps, web pages, and other types of content Figure B. You can expand or narrow the search results by type. Click any of the headings at the top of the search window--Apps, Documents, Email, or Web--to filter the results by that specific type. Next, you can access the Windows Timeline to see a recent history of documents, web pages, and other files.
To do this from the Search window, delete your search term to go back to the main window and click the link for Manage History. Now, let's look at some ways to customize and control the Search tool.
First, you can free up space on the Taskbar by shrinking the Search field into an icon. You'll now have to click the Search icon to use the search field, but you have more room for other Taskbar icons. To revert back, return to the Search menu item and change the selection to Show Search Box. For your next step, you should review the Search settings, especially now that Search is no longer joined at the hip with Cortana.
To do this, click in the Search field, click on the ellipsis icon in the upper right, and then select Search Settings. Alternatively, open Settings and click on the setting for Search.
Click on the Kind icon, and you can specify the type of file you're seeking, such as a document, picture, video, or program. Click on the icon for Other Properties.
In the Search field after the property name and colon, you can then type a specific value. For example, if you select Type, you can enter document or picture as the specific type. If you select Folder Path, you can enter a specific pathname. You can also add multiple properties to a single search Figure E. To access past searches, click on the icon for Recent Searches and select the search you want to run again. Next, Windows indexes and looks in certain locations to speed up your searches, but you can change that.
Click on the Advanced Options icon. Click on the option to Change Indexed Locations. From the Indexing Options window, you can add or remove locations in the index. Click Close when done. Go back to Advanced Options. Select or deselect any of the three non-indexed locations that you want to include or exclude in your search, specifically File Contents, System Files, or Zipped Compressed Folders Figure F.
To save your current search criteria and options, click on the icon to Save Search. Type a name for the search or leave the default name. Keep the default location. Click Save Figure G. Finally, to open the entire folder for a specific file from the search results, click on the file and then click on the icon to Open File Location.
