So to have a second solo album from Karl Sanders to sink my teeth into only tells me only one thing - I'm in for one hell of a sonic ride, and I have no doubts that it's going to be short or boring. Karl Sanders is well known as the mastermind of the death metal band Nile, and for good reason.

Nile itself is not your average death metal band. From their very first album, you just knew that you were listening to something special, something that doesn't come along very often.

And the man behind the vision for that special band is Karl Sanders - a multi instrumentalist with an incredibly impressive musical palette. Saurian Exorcisms features Karl playing the baglama saz a traditional Turkish lute , acoustic guitar, glissentar an 11 string fretless guitar, made to emulate the sounds of an oud , keyboards, drums and vocals. The only other person who plays an active role in the album is his good friend Mike Breazeale, who contributes vocals and chants.
