Not a very hard job except for truck days. Its a great place to work for the most part. Like all retail companies it has its pros and cons. A lot of the customers that come into harbor are rude so expect that.
I love the 4am-8am shifts you get off work and have the rest of the day to yourself. Harbor freight is a good place to work only if your not a parent. You will miss quality time with your kids unless your a sales associate they intend to get out early but, logistics life is brutal you have more expectations and less time with your family no dinners for sure I can tell you that. You will work every holiday except thanksgiving or Christmas there is no time and the half at this job which should be there knowing we expose ourselves to Covid every day.
If they had a better scheduling for people this job would rock. Pros Pay is good could better base on the work load. Cons Bad scheduling, need better work and family life balance. I love harbor freight. Some of the benefits make going else where difficult because it's rare to earn biweekly PTO without a cap. However, even with recent past raises harbor freight does not pay enough to meet cost of living demands. If you work at harbor freight and want to rent a nice place you're screwed.
Landlords want you to make 3 times the rent which in my case is about No decent community in my area offers anything for less than a thousand a month. I'm currently without a home of my own and living with family.

We are told to fill out templates and then advise the customers to wait up to 5 days for a response. This creates frustration for both the employees and customers. We regularly fail to process refunds for our hard-working customers in a reasonable timeframe. For a customer to get their refund they often call times to resolve due to our inadequate processes and lack of autonomy. Emails are not answered in a timely manner.
Our systematic tracking information and order status emails relay inaccurate information regularly. Technology is outdated. Systems often fail. Supervisors are overwhelmed with questions from new hires due to the lack of proper training and non-existent SOP's. At least once a day supervisors are no where to be found. The lack of SOP's and poor training resources hinders productivity and sabatoges an employees ability to do their job to the best of their ability. Poor training and internal communication processes compound problems when leadership attempts to roll-out of new ideas.
Very poor ongoing training is provided after the first 10 days. Emails or piecemeal papers are provided that are not clearly thought out which hinders proper execution of "system improvements".
With every improvement our customers get bounced around more and our service quality suffers. Employees are written up every time they go over 1 minute on their scheduled work times or breaks. Yet overtime and staying late and working through breaks is not recognized. This creates a "Spartan" culture with - more Pros Benefits. Accountability is an issue, if your directed wrong you will be disciplined, if you question accountability you will be disciplined.

Hard workers do not get as many opportunities as they should, as there is absolutely a "favorites" system at play.

Not what I hoped it would be, but not the worst. Good: Employee discount, good store manager, close to home. Bad: Applied to work in logistics but the store puts way too much emphasis is put on selling store memberships, product warranties, and credit cards. Also, there's something called "Leader on Duty" where youre literally walking around the store asking people if they need any help It gets old. Some will work, most will not. Management also tends to look out for each other, while lower staff wont be afforded any slack they will sit around and talk while not giving you a break.
Had a great manager that was moved to another store, the guy who replaced him had half a brain. Stayed 8 months after the new guy showed and did NOT give him 2 weeks. I was also quite lucky with my team as most people pulled their weight.
